Other Notes: Skarl is more than a mere beastman and enjoys a number of benefits from his unusual nature. He heals like an Exalt and soaks Lethal damage with his full Stamina. Skarl doubles 10s on all damage rolls. He suffers no penalties for moving or fighting underwater. He calculates his Essence pool and Ox-Body Technique as if he were a spirit, and he knows a few spirit Charms. Finally, every level of Lethal damage he deals with his Bite attack heals him for one level of damage or restores two motes, if he is unwounded. His Artifact is an orichalcum-and-soulsteel anchor, specially forged for him by Siakal, the war-goddess of the West. It functions as a grimcleaver.
For ten years, Skarl Dragonslayer has roamed the Great Western Ocean with a blood-thirst that shocks and stuns even hardened Realm marines. His origins are unclear, but his motives are simple – pillage and kill. He flies no flag but his own, scorning Coral’s numerous offers of marque. He spares one victim from every ship he takes, to spread his infamy. Skarl has no allies, only prey. He strikes at any ship he sees, regardless of its nature, nation, or manifest. Wielding his artifact anchor-blade Facegouger, and with his wickedly hooked hand, the scarred sharkman indulges his vicious urges with wild abandon, often killing and eating members of the enemy crew mid-battle.
His crew is a horrid mixture of demons, beastmen, and the scum of the West, all of which are too vicious, cruel, or insane to exist anywhere else. They charge into battle with reckless abandon, howling incoherently and swinging their blades, clubs, or claws. And yet, as mad and cruel as they are, they serve Skarl out of fear, for the sharkman outstrips them all in sheer bloody-mindedness.
Skarl has earned his name by killing no fewer than two dozen Dragon-Blooded, possibly more. Most civilized nations have an active bounty on his head, but to date, no living privateer has been able to bring the sharkman to heel. Some whisper that he has become more than a simple pirate, more even than a beastman, but has become infused with some manner of Wyld spirit or demon that grants him extraordinary resilience and power.
